Today is the anniversary. Bill died on a beautiful day, just like this one has been. 6 years ago, my husband and father of 2 young children left this beautiful place.
In his honor, we have turned Westwind Farm into a garden that accentuates and integrates the house that he loved more robustly with the surroundings that he loved. We are grateful that Bill provided the impetus to make this beautiful place where art is created as an expression of love of the divine.
Thanks Bill.

Making Fuchsia Cloth of Gold babies!
I couldn’t help myself, it’s just too exciting to look at those fuchsia and want to make lots of fuchsia babies. Fuchsia is such an easy friend to propagate, it really has a strong will to live. So I did it, and only after did I look at the calender that I religiously consult when planting via my biodynamic scheme — The Pocket Astrologer 2010, Pacific Edition. First off, it’s in my time zone and I don’t have to subtract 8 for Greenwich time as I do with most Ephemeri. The other great thing about this calender is that it tells the moon’s movement through signs and when it is void of course. You should never plant on a void of course moon, according to the biodynamic calender. I’ve been planting via that calender with good results for 2 years. Except for the void of course part, which I didn’t ever before. I’ll let you know how it goes.

Fuchsia Cloth of Gold mother plant
Jean Ann VanKrevelen very kindly included Yogacowgirls and Bridget Pilloud (listen to her earlier podcast with us!) on her latest installment of the Good Enough Gardening podcast. We talked about psychic connections with animals (@petsaretalking’s line of work), including birds and insects in our gardens. Find out what a walking stick insect said to Bridget. Determine the answers to more questions, like “what is a funion?”
We talked about the upcoming plant sale on September 19 at Westwind Farm Studio and had a lot of laughs about lots of various topics. Catch the podcast here!
